Have you ever stopped to think about what it would be like to live a life without God? Without God, there is no absolute standard of morality. Whatever we wanted to do would be morally acceptable, since it would be my desires against another person's desires. Your desires against my desires. Without God, we could not have the opportunity to be moral creatures.
This may be a difficult thing for many to swallow. It was for me when this was first pointed out to me. However, God is necessary for morals to exist. He is necessary for moral peoples. He is necessary for a moral society. Living in a country that is growing increasingly hostile towards God, I have come to the conclusion that the more God is removed from our everyday lives, the more immoral the people of my country act. I see things today that I would not have thought could happen even 5 years ago.
Even though America is growing increasingly hostile towards God, there is hope for our country. God is a forgiving God. God is merciful. God is also just. It was Thomas Jefferson who said, "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever." It was God that promised to heal our land if we turned to Him, humbled ourselves, and prayed. I want to ask everyone who reads this post to do just this. Let's humble ourselves and pray that God may return to our country. Let's pray that He will have mercy on us for our rebellion. Let's pray.
