Who do we listen to? Is it our family? Our friends? Random strangers off the street? Our favorite celebrity? Are you picky about who you take advice from?
We should be picky about who we take advice for our life from. Sometimes, people have a tendency to take advice on life that makes them feel good. We must avoid taking this type of advice. Who should we take advice from? Here are some great places to take advice from:
The first Person that we should be asking for advice is God. God will never lead us astray and has our best interests in mind. He also sees the big picture of life, and we can't. Asking God for advice on the issues in our lives is one of the wisest decisions that a person could make.
The next place we could go for advice is the Bible. The Bible is inspired by God. It is also good for training in righteousness and for teaching. God intends for us to use the Bible to help us grow and make right decisions. Failure to listen to the counsel that the Bible brings is a failure to read God's instructions on life.
A third place that we can go for godly counsel is our church family. Specifically, we should ask for advice from leaders in the church. Perhaps our pastor, Sunday School teacher, or deacon realizes something that we do not. Perhaps they will be able to add insight. They are yet another resource that God has given us in the walk of life. We should listen to the counsel of God, the Bible, and our church leaders as we walk along the road of life.
